 | SAMA nominated Producer/Musician Guillaume de Villiers is the Artist that founded Abbott Nu Jazz during 2010. Being an accomplished Musician, Guillaume has performed music from just about every genre, but none captivating him as much as the genre known as Nu Jazz. In Guillaume's words: "Nu Jazz is the perfect solution for a Musician that is passionate about more than one genre. How can one choose when there are so many beautiful elements to be found in all genres. So my solution is......fuse them all together and call it Nu Jazz." As well as Guillaume being a well accomplished Musician, he is also known for his production skills. The lethal combination of these two skills is what led Guillaume to being the sole Producer, Musician and Composer of the Abbott Nu Jazz tunes. Besides the recording of studio albums, Guillaume has also setup a captivating live act to showcase the Abbott Nu Jazz material. The live act is performed via live looping. Basically Guillaume records all parts to the music live on stage, loops and mixes it, sings over it and adds improvisational parts on Guitar. |
Guillaume is always accompanied by at least one other Musician on stage who has improvisational freedom to perform over the mix. Such Musicians include: Percussionist, Bassist and Keyboardist. The live show can be classified as a live band even though the set is mixed like a Dj set. All instrumental parts are performed rather than mixing pre recorded material as in a Dj set.
