![]() | Every studio puppy needs a pet project and this is it for producer Guillaume de Villiers from Abbott Audio.
Some call it Acid Jazz, some call it World, some call it Lounge but he likes to call it Nu Jazz.
As a fusion and jazz musician, Guillaume has always had a love for live
performance. His passion for audio production developed a little later
in life and guided him towards the concept of Nu Jazz, thus forming 2011 South African Music Award nominee "Abbott Nu Jazz". So how does it work? All instruments are recorded live but mixed down with edgy effects
to create the cross roads between live and 21st century
electronics.
You can expect to hear world fusion influences and jazzy rifts, blended with some spicy computer tones. The lyrical content is often theatrical and is sure to keep the listener entertained. Abbott Nu jazz crosses through many genre boundaries with strong influences of dub, lounge, acid jazz, deep house and drum & bass. Catch the Abbott Nu Jazz live band for a truly unique and inspiring experience. The band creates music on stage via live looping. In other words they record clips of music on the go using instruments and vocal, repeat the clips and continue building more clips over the now repeating clips. The clips are then electronically mixed together while live instrumental and vocal performance is added. Allot of this process is improvised so every show remains unique and captivating. |
